I went for years avoiding shrugs. My head felt like it was going to implode the next morning, a sniff neck, and this train wreck of a headache. It all started at my first gym in Sasffron walden. Weight training can bring on headaches.. this is where i tell you to go and see a doctor before you listen to a Sports Massage guy in Saffron Walden. Don't Google headaches...you will have 2 hours At best) to live.

Common Causes of Headaches During Shoulder Pressing
Exertional Headaches
These headaches occur during or after strenuous physical activity, including weightlifting. They're typically throbbing and affect both sides of the head. The exact cause isn't fully understood, but it's believed that strenuous exercise dilates blood vessels inside the skull, leading to pain .Allure+3Mayo Clinic+3Men's Health+3
Valsalva Maneuver
Holding your breath while lifting, known as the Valsalva maneuver, increases pressure in the veins and impedes blood return to the heart. This can lead to increased intracranial pressure and result in a headache .Lewiston Sun Journal
Poor Form and Neck Position
Improper head and neck positioning during lifts can strain the upper trapezius and neck muscles, leading to tension headaches. For instance, excessively extending the neck by looking up during lifts can cause muscle tension and headaches .Breaking Muscle
Dehydration and Electrolyte Imbalance
Not drinking enough fluids or losing electrolytes through sweat can trigger headaches. Maintaining hydration and electrolyte balance is crucial, especially during intense workouts .WebMD+1Men's Health+1
Low Blood Sugar
Exercising without adequate nutrition can lead to hypoglycemia, causing headaches, dizziness, and fatigue. Ensuring proper nutrition before workouts can help prevent this .
What was mine, you may (but probably don't ask). I'm confident mine was due to poor posture everyday, and then the act of pressing overhead just made my muscles even more tight. Also a lack of stretching my traps.
Before your next session i really advise you to do this.. and get them dam headaches out of your sets and reps.
Drink some electrolytes with your water.
Follow some neck and trapezius mobility warm up and cool down
Press ABOVE your head. As if you was to drop the bar it would donk you bang on top your head. Don't push the bar forward on the OHP - it strains
Hold a HEAVY weight in one hand and let it PULL the shoulder downwards, with your other hand gently pull you head to the opposite side (Ear to shoulder). It's the best stretch in the world. Thank me later. Seriously though, having a massage seriously helps. Headaches is something i know all to well.
I can almost guarantee that if your headaches are actually caused by tight muscles getting a Sports massage with me at my Saffron Walden clinic will really help. Book & Contact | Apex Recovery Room
