IT Band. No Point To Massage It? Saffron Walden Massage

Nope. Not much....
The IT band is as tough as seatbelt material.
Studies show it doesn’t actually “stretch” or change length through massage or rolling.
The tightness feeling people get is usually from the muscles around it (glutes, TFL, quads) pulling on the IT band.
When therapists “massage the IT band,” what they’re really helping with is reducing tone/tension in the muscles attaching to it → which then relieves strain on the IT band itself.
Massage directly on the IT band itself doesn’t really do much... because the IT band is a thick, dense band of fascia (connective tissue), not a muscle.
You can’t “release” or lengthen it with massage or a foam roller.
So Is There Any Point?
Directly massaging the IT band = not much benefit (and often unnecessary pain).
Indirectly (working on TFL, glutes, quads, lateral hamstrings) = very useful for knee and hip pain related to IT band issues.
Best results come from massage + mobility work + strengthening glutes/hips.
If you think you're suffering some something related to your IT Band, stop foam rolling, it's not going to help much. Book a massage in Saffron Walden at Apex Recovery Room
