I go to a barbers in Saffron Walden, because they are good but they also don't speak much to me. I rather like the silence. It's not antisocial, it's just a enjoyment of peace, it's maybe short but needed. I find in massage some people love to talk and some don't say much. The people who talk a lot might do this out of feeling awkward and they struggle to find calmness in peace or they genuinely like a chat. By the way, you really should not feel awkward in a massage! It's my job!
What I have found interesting is people tend to not speak as much if I have light radio music on or my fan on, and if I turn one of them off, the person starts to speak to me more. The background sounds put everyone at ease. So should you speak in your massage?
Yes...and....no.... You do you! I won't be confused or think you are rude if you don't want to speak much and I also don't mind if you wish to talk. But please, never feel the need to talk if you would rather enjoy your treatment in your own thoughts. I don't mind what you do!
But...
Ask any massage therapist "Is it annoying if i lift my head up to talk in a massage?" and you might get a very long and irritated answer! :D
